NEET from NCERT: A Class 11 & 12 Study Plan That Actually Works

Ask any doctor who cracked NEET what their single biggest edge was, and most will say the same two words: NCERT mastery. Not ten reference books. One book, known line by line. Here is the plan we put our students on at our Bhiwadi centre.

Phase 1 (Class 11): Build, don’t rush

• Biology: One NCERT chapter at a time — read, annotate, then re-read the summary tables. Make one-page concept maps per chapter; they become your revision currency later.
• Chemistry: Physical from NCERT + numericals practice; Organic starts with GOC clarity; Inorganic is pure NCERT discipline (the “exceptions” list is half the game).
• Physics: Formula sheets per chapter + 20 numericals weekly. NEET Physics rewards speed built on fundamentals, not tricks.

Phase 2 (Class 12): Two tracks in parallel

Class 12 syllabus is heavy, but NEET papers keep asking Class 11 questions. Keep a weekly Class 11 revision slot — two hours, every week, non-negotiable — while covering the Class 12 syllabus.

The engine: test → analyse → fix

Every week: one chapter-wise test. Every month: one accumulated test. After every test, a simple three-column error log:

1. Concept gap → re-read that NCERT section the same day
2. Silly mistake → note the pattern (signs? units? misreading?)
3. Time pressure → which section ate your clock

Marks follow the error log, not the other way around. This is the loop our Biology faculty from AIIMS Bhubaneswar runs in every batch.

Class 12 ≠ less Class 11

By January of Class 12, the plan flips: full-syllabus mock tests weekly, NCERT line-by-line for Biology (especially examples, figures and summary tables), and a strict “no new books” rule.
